Whitehaven Beach Whitsunday Island

Whitehaven Beach Whitsunday Island

Whitehaven Beach is 7 kilometres long and located on the northern side of Whitsunday Island.  Whitsunday Island and Whitehaven beach are only accessible via boat, which means that there are no cars, no roads and indeed with the beach being in the centre of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, the only man-made development is a few small signs, toilets hidden in the forest behind the beach and a lookout platform to take in the views.... the beach is truely pristine.

Guest reviews of Whitehaven Beach include:

"Breathtaking"

"The most beautiful beach on the planet"

"Peaceful, serene and stunningly beautiful".

The sand on Whitehaven Beach is very fine, and predominantly made up of quartz which has been ground down over millions of years.  When you visit, ensure you bring your gold jewelry and use the sand to give it a polish.  A good tip, is to keep your SLR cameras away from the sand as it is so fine it easily works its way into the lenses and moving sections.
