Where to go sailing in the Whitsundays

Where We Go Sailing

On average our 3 day tours will cover 80 - 90 nautical miles (160km's) around the Whitsunday Island Group.

Whitsunday Islands sailing map

After departure from Abell Point Marina at Airlie Beach a typical voyage will.......

  • Cross the Whitsunday Passage to Blue Pearl Bay on Hayman Island.
  • Sail along the western coast of Hook Island to Nara Inlet.
  • Head around the southern side of Hook Island passing through Hook Passage to Cataran Bay on Border Island.
  • Travel south along the north eastern side of Whitsunday Island to Whitehaven Beach.
  • Sail through Solway Passage, past Hamilton Island Resort and stop at Cid Harbour on the western side of Whitsunday Island. Or we may alternatively, sail from Whitehaven Beach north up to Hook Island or Hayman Island
  • Along western coast of Whitsunday Island, through Hook Passage and follow the eastern coast of Hook Island to Mantaray Bay.
  • Sail to the northern coast of Hook Island to Langford Reef near Black Island.
  • Finally heading back to Airlie Beach passing the Molle Islands.

For Private Charter tours, we can arrange to travel to the outer reef and sail to the southern islands of the group as far south as Mackay.

Itineraries are flexible, and this itinerary is an example only.  Trips will differ depending on the prevailing breezes and tidal conditions.  Itineraries are planned by the Captain considering the safety and well being of guests and crew. If you have a special place that you would like to visit, we'll see what can be done. Please note that in the unlikely event of a mechanical problem, tour itineraries may need to be changed. For Scuba Diving we rendezvous with our Dive Boat, Tornado.
